Nordstrom Anniversary Sale: Part 1

It’s happening people. One of the biggest sales of the year starts July 22nd and it’s the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale.

Shopping sales can be a bit overwhelming especially when things are going out of stock left and right and you’re not even sure what you’re looking for, so here are a few tips to make this sale a success and make sure you don’t feel like you ended up buying a bunch of random items.

1- Have a list of what you need: these are the items you wish you had stocked up on after the sale ends. This could be jeans, bras, white tshirts, ankle boots, whatever your style staples are or what needs to be replaced in your closet.

2- Set a budget: This is important, you don’t want to break the bank and then feel guilty so make sure you filter your search to only what you can afford before you start perusing. Don’t fall in love with a pair of $200 jeans, then none of the ones in your price range will measure up.

3- Shop for winter: The best thing about this sale versus other sales is that’s it’s not the clearance rejects going on super sale to move the last of the inventory. This is new stuff for the coming fall and winter season as well so it’s a great time to stock up on cozy sweaters and boots!

Fall trend alert: Velvet, yellow & pink, faux fur, chokers, one shoulder, tinsel & fringe

4- Shop for investment pieces: For me this is design handbags. I’m more of a shoe girl but when a Rebecca Minkoff goes on sale, how can I refuse? Check out the high ticket items you normally couldn’t afford and consider using a chunk of your budget on a nice quality handbag that will last you for years to come.

5- Go out of your comfort zone: I like the 75/25 rule. If you have 10 items in your cart, 7 should be things you need, wardrobe staples, and investment pieces, and the other 3 can be “for fun” items that you want to try but may not be your style. This way you love the majority of your purchase and if one of the “for fun” items doesn’t suit you it’s not a complete loss.

That’s it! It’s always a little less overwhelming to go in with a plan and I hope you find this helpful! ALSO if you are a Nordstrom cardholder you get early access to the sale on July 14th!

Have a great weekend!
