When it comes to work wear I think the most important thing is that it’s versatile. No one wants to spend money on 2 different wardrobes for work and weekend so staple pieces need to go a long way. Dresses are a great way to gain a bit versatility of in your work wardrobe and with a few minor adjustments this one takes you from meetings to cocktails in a flash.
I feel like it’s easier to translate a fall/winter wardrobe into an office appropriate look because you aren’t wearing shorts and tank tops when it’s cold outside, but translating a more conservative office look into one that’s fun and flirty for going out, can be tricky. I think we can all tell who came to the bar right from the office and who didn’t, and I hate that! I want to feel like my best self in both atmospheres and this dress is the answer. It’s long sleeved and you can have it pulled down to knee length or up a bit to a shorter length because of the rouching. The fact that it covers so much balances out the fitted cut and I also chose to throw on a big grandpa cardi to make it a bit more modest. Then all you have to do is take off the cardigan or blazer and the fit of the dress turns into a flirty happy hour look.
I accessorized the work wear version with a blush cross body bag and feminine neutral heels that are super comfy and office appropriate. Then just swap the blush bag for a hot pink one, vamp up the neutral heels for a platform pair (optional!) and pull off the cardigan and you’re good to go! All you have to do it change 3 things and you’re happy hour ready without having to pack a whole new outfit.
I also had to have my hair up for the office so I could do the proverbial “letting down of the hair” for letting lose with a half price cocktail. What is your most versatile work wear piece??
